ILIGAN CITY – People would call their barangay “Munisipyo ng Acmac” because of the big and contemporary design of their new barangay hall, said Barangay Acmac Chairperson Juvilyn D. Claveria in an interview on the radio program Serbisyong Siao, Serbisyong Wow! on 25 June 2021.
She said that they are proud to have the biggest barangay hall in Iligan City despite having no Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).
With the expansion of the barangay hall, she said they would be able to accommodate other organizations in the barangay such as the persons with disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, LGBTQ+ community and others by giving them their own offices in the new building.
This project has been realized through the effort of Congressman Frederick W. Siao in partnership with the barangay council of Acmac.
“On behalf sa akong barangay council and constituents sa Barangay Acmac, akong kinasing-kasing nga gipaabot sa opisina sa atong congressman ang pasalamat,” Claveria said.
(On behalf of the barangay council and constituents of Barangay Acmac, I give my heartfelt thanks to the office of the congressman.)
Besides the barangay hall expansion project, Barangay Acmac also received multipurpose facilities and other projects for the development of the barangay in partnership with the office of the congressman.
Siao also filed a house bill that will give national recognition to 6 barangays in the city, including Acmac, which would give them their long-awaited IRA, the barangay’s source of money to be used for funding their own projects, programs, and activities.
